YOUTH CLIMBING TEAMS

Our YOUTH CLIMBING mission

LBR’s ultimate goal for our youth program is to offer a supportive and cultivating environment for our youth climbers to learn: climbing technique, climbing strength training and experience support from our coaches to achieve their personal climbing goals.  We strive to create an atmosphere of comradery on our teams, encouraging climbers to sow into their teammates and to recognize that their teammates can teach them things. We believe learning skills in climbing can teach life lessons that grow each climber individually. It is our privilege to come alongside our youth climbers on this journey.

Climbing is all about pushing past boundaries, personal growth and overcoming uncomfortable moments. Our climbing clubs gives kids the tools to process the emotions of failure, so that they can move forward confidently on the path to success and stability. We instill these lessons in a fun, socially dynamic and physical environment where your child interacts with those younger and older themselves. They become students and mentors all at the same time.

TRAINING TEAM AND COMPETITION TEAM

Practice Tues & Thurs 4-7pm & Sat 8:30-11:30am

*(placement determined via try-outs)*

This team climbs outdoors every month!

  • The Competition team is our top level team. Climbers on this team have at least 1 year on the training team under their belt (there are some exceptions). A certain level of focus and dedication is required for this team. These climbers represent our gym at competitions. They are also role models for climbers on the Training & Recreation teams that are looking to one day be on the Competition team. Our primary goal for climbers on this team remains to help them achieve their personal goals in climbing. Much of the workouts will be tailored training plans to help them progress in their goals and excel as a competition climber.

The Training team will practice at the same time as the competition team, warming up and cooling down with them. The main workout may be modified or completely different from the Training team so as to challenge each team according to their level. Tuesday practices will focus on conditioning training for climbing. Thursday practices will focus on climbing workouts or workshops. Saturday practices will focus on competition training. One Saturday out of the month we will take a trip outdoors instead of training at LBR.

  • The Training team is designed for climbers that have ~1 year of climbing under their belts (there are some exceptions to the ~1 year qualification). These climbers are seeking more than just fun and climbing games out of their climbing experience. We train climbers on this team for competitions. It is encouraged that these climbers compete in competitions, but it is not required. It is still our primary goal to help these climbers achieve their own personal goals in climbing.

RECREATION TEAM

Practice Mon & Wed 4-6pm

Drop-in-rate $35

  • The Recreation team is the starting point in our youth climbing experience. It is our goal to introduce these climbers to the foundations of climbing knowledge. Climbers will learn the foundational skills of climbing technique and will be introduced to climbing conditioning training. It is our goal to present this information in an interactive, fun and challenging manner. We will take note of where each climber is at and be sure to make modifications to workouts in order to help each climber progress at their own pace.

The Recreation team is split into 2 groups: Club A - 11 & up and Club B - 10 & under. Both groups will practice together. Periodically when workshops, training sessions or climbing groups are created, the team may be split into these groups so as to allow each age group to learn climbing techniques within their level.

  • Option A: 1 day of practice (Mon or Wed) $165/mo

Option B: 2 days of practice (Mon & Wed) $215/mo
